Manual Division of Darts in a sloper

KHill | Posted in General Discussion on

G’day all.

I was wondering if someone could help me with dart conversion.  I have recently started to do victorian/edwardian period costuming as a hobby, and have drafted my own sloper with a single dart, but in order to get the ‘period’ look, I was wondering if someone knew how to divide darts manually?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

    Simba,

I would use my muslin without darts, put it on a dress form or handy model and pin as many of the divided darts as I thought would create the look I was after.   Another idea might be to try pin tucks in addition to fitting darts to create the look of multiple darts.  I haven't actually done this application but this is where my experimentations would begin.

Good luck with your projects,   Alice
