Does anyone know where I can get a paper-piecing pattern for a Mariner’s Compass quilt?

I'm going to a very good quilt shop in the next few days and I'll ask. rjf
Well, I got to the quilt shop and they have a book called "Quick-strip paper piecing" with Mariner's Compass and other really good looking quilts. You can call 1-413-664-8200 or go to their website: http://www.talasquiltshop.com I'd never heard of paper piecing and asked for an explanation. It sounds like a good way to do lots of piecing and have it come out neatly. rjf

Paper piecing is terrific! It's the only way I've ever bothered to make any patchwork squares at all--pretty much fool-proof when it comes to getting all the bits and pieces to match up properly. I did a bunch in miniature when I was editing Kayla Kennington's article on paper piecing in issue 101, and if you go to the Threads home page, look for "Free quilt templates" and you can download a few blocks. No Mariner's Compass, I'm afraid, but some other little ones that are fun to try the technique on.

Ah-ha! I remember those! rjf
