A maternity wedding gown? Sounds like an oxymoron. At six months you could possibly have given extra room in an empire style and have it work but at 8 months it needs to be a true maternity gown with extra length as well as width in the front over the belly. The bust will grow larger during the pregnancy as well sometimes becoming quite voluptuous in the most unlikely individuals (like skinny small busted gals). There just needs to be room for adjustment in the style of gown you make. It is an interesting challenge.
If the pregnant body is not the most familiar thing to you in your life these days, it might be helpful to observe women who are quite pregnant or find pictures to see how clothing falls over the belly and how a woman shifts her posture and weight to adjust for her different center of gravity.
I made a friend such a dress and she looked lovely . I just used a simple empire line maternity pattern. and made a beautiful stole over her shoulders . The baby came 2 months later . A lovley liitle girl and the whole family is very happy.Another friend had a beautiful dress also empire line and with a bodice which had a lovely chiffon overlay and a plunging neckline The sleeves were rather medeavil in look and the skirt very simple . The trim was all up around the face and bust which was magnificent!!
