You need Cherrypops for this - she's our resident whizzkid on this sort of stuff

I saw your note and answered....

" You cannot change it - your screen name". Taunton states on its Account Help page.

Interesting - so we can adopt different personas?

Go to the bottom of this page. It's called My Account.

    Then follow the instructions

rekha, please read my thorough response to neenees post, asking about 'changing member name'. By providing more information than just a link helps more members in the future who read the discussions.

    Hi Neenees,

    Cp to the rescue!!!

Taunton States in their "frequently asked questions"

How do I change my Screen Name?Once a Screen Name is created, it cannot be changed.

I suggest you send an email to [email protected] and explain you would like to change your name.

If they are of no help to you,

The only other way to change your screen name is to re-register under a different email address.

    And to ALL:

I too tried to change my name without success, but at least it is easy to type in when I have to redo my sign in info every so often.

And I agree with Cherrypops 100% about filling in the information on our profiles.  You don't have to give away your privacy, but I click on posters names all the time hoping to see where they are from and too often get nothing.  It is disappointing.  So many of you have given away lots of info in your posts, but still have nothing in your profile.  Hmmm.  All that information is easy to change if you don't like what you first put down, not like your name.

Thank you Sewelegant for bringing up that point.
If nothing else, please put in where in the world you are.
I do not travel all that much, and I love to know the whereabouts of the people I am talking to. My DH and I are Armchair Travellers and love to look up where people are on the maps and research the area that they live in.
If we were ever to win the lucky millions and get to actually travel the world, there are lots of neat places we would love to visit that we have discovered that are off of the usual tourist maps. Cathy

Threads was the first forum that I signed up for when I got my computer but I did not give any personal profile at that time because it was all so new to me and frankly I was not at ease with the prospect but I would do it now if I knew how to add it. The profile update page I found seemed to just be for e mail address change and passwords. thanks

      1. sewelegant | | #14

Go back to your profile by clicking on your name.  Then you can click on Change Profile and/or My Prefs and explore those options.  Don't be afraid to click on things to see what happens.  Sometimes it doesn't seem to simply explain how to do it, but you will probably figure it out.  Some of the others may be able to help you out better than I have so if anyone reading this knows a good or better way please feel free to jump in.

If it is any consolation, your name is easy to remember, and kinda cute. I am really bad at remembering names, and your short and sweet one is one I will definitely remember. Cathy

Have you tried signing up for a new account using a new name but the same email address?  When my email address changed, it wouldn't allow me to use my original name, so I just added a number to it.  I don't think I ever officially closed the other one, but I've never signed into it again, so it's inactive anyway.

I know from experience with various websites that if your details remain identical, you cannot use a new name, except Yahoo who allow you to open different accounts and names
