Mixing Durability with Design Has Anyone Tried Heavy-Duty Materials in Fashion Projects?

ZaraDonell | Posted in Fashion & Design on
Hey everyone,

I’ve been experimenting with some more rugged and utility-inspired styles lately, and it got me thinking—has anyone here tried working with heavier or industrial-grade materials in fashion design?

The idea came to me while chatting with a concrete contractor who was redoing the sidewalk outside my studio. He was explaining how they choose materials not just for looks, but for function and wear over time. That stuck with me, and I started thinking how could we apply that kind of mindset to certain clothing or accessories?

I’m not talking full-on workwear, but maybe adding certain details or finishes that are a little more durable and long-lasting. Curious if anyone’s taken a similar route, or experimented with mixing tough materials with traditional fabrics?

Thanks!
