I just bought the prettiest plaid mohair material, and now I don’t know which way to use it. Furry side out or smooth side. Both are very pretty, I have a feeling it should be the furry side, but I want to be right. Need help right away, want to start this weekend . Expecting a snow storm. E-Mail [email protected]

Definitely the fuzzy side faces out. However, I guess if you liked the smooth side out, you could do it. Mohair is so lightweight and yet warm. It's hard to find. You might want to check the archives. Threads had an article on sewing with mohair fairly recently. Leslie
*My attitude is the right side is the side you want it to be. However, if the mohair is really long think about the matting that would occur in high friction areas (like under arm) if the long fuzzies were on the inside. I keep my mohair garments looking good by occasionally brushing the abused areas (elbows, pocket entry, shoulder where my handbag strap rubs) with a fine wire tooth dog brush.
*Thanks Crish, that was my thought. I used the fuzzy side inside. It is a fully lined coat, so it really didn't matter about the matting. The wrong side, was really pretty, still very nubby and loopy looking. Saw a coat made with the fuzzy side out and really didn't like it. However, i may go back and get the other plaid and do it the right way.
