I have an ancient, wobbly, adjustable dress form that I’ve been using, but I need something better. I do custom sewing and it would be much easier if I have a form that I can change for each client. The wedding gown I’m currently working on is strapless and the dress form is working OK,but only ’cause the gal is so small. I need something I can pin into. I have clients that fit into a broad range of sizes…and of course, not a lot of funds. Any suggestions????

O Crafty 1,
I haven't tried this, but my suggestion is chicken wire. When I was young I had a dress form made out of a wire material like that similar to chicken wire. 2 sides that you can attach together with, say, those long plastic pull tie things that you get at the hardware store. My mom fit it snugly over my body, just scrunching the wire until it fit. Took it off over my arms, and put the two sides together. It also had a pole with a stand that the neck of the form attached to by crossing 2, say, forks, right at about neck height. Over the entire form was one of those elasticized pieces of fabric that are used for the bodice of sundresses, and you can pin on that. If you try it, let me know how it works--seems less messy (and cheap to boot) than some of the other methods I've read about!
