my 1st summer dress

Visibelle | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

hello all

I’m a beginner and just about to finish my 1st mouselin skirt. I would like to have the bottom of the skirt wavy (sorry i dont have the proper term) just like what they sell in the store for young adult. Such type of skirt is very fashionable. Do i need to buy a special needle or machine for this?

Thank you for your time.

the waviness can be created two ways:

cutting the fabric on the bias

serging the edges of slightly stretchy fabric so it waves.

Muslin won't do this very well, lightweight fabric with great drape will.

Do you have a serger? If you do, or know someone who does, all you have to do is sew the rolled hem stitch, and stretch it as you sew, and it will automatically ruffle!
