Need a good basic machine

TLC1994 | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I’m very interested in sewing again – it’s been many, many years since I’ve sewn anything – and I need a good basic machine. I plan to make some clothes for my daughter, some basic items for me and probably curtains and things for the house. Please help me make this decision! I’ve looked at the following machines:

Huskystar 219
Elna 1010
Janome/New Home 2018

They’re all in the same basic price range – under $300 – which is going to have to be my limit. All machines are very nice and I’m sure they’d all fit my needs, and then some! I guess I just want to be sure that any of the above mentioned machines are worth the money and will last me for many years.

Thanks in advance for all your feedback regarding this. I do appreciate your opinions!

TLC, did you check out our comparison chart on the Threads Web site? You'll see that there are several $300 and under machines that we thought were very good considerations. We didn't have the opportunity to test-drive all the models you mention, but you'll get the idea...you don't have to spend a fortune to get a good machine that will do all the tasks you mention.
