I have 5 yards of beautiful chocolate colored boule fabric. I only wish I knew what to do with it. I imagine a suit of some sort with a cherry red satin backed crepe blouse but can’t figure out a style for the suit. Can anyone suggest a pattern? The fabric is open weave and almost looks as if it was hand knitted. Do I line it? Will it require some type of interlacing?
I am about 5’4″ tall, size 20 dress size, although full-figured, I have no extremes top or bottom.
I can sew most advanced patterns and especially enjoy the ones by the Sewing Workshop. I would also like something a little unique.

Chanel made her reputation in part to this type of fabric. She used it for her classic chanel suits. I believe she lined in with china silk and it was handstitched to the lining. If you are interested you might want to check the Threads archives as I believe that's where I read the information. I don't think you can beat a classic Chanel type suit. If you don't want to go the suit path, I would think it would make a beautiful coat - the Sewing Workshop's Sandra Betzina coat comes to mind.
