Need Help With Pleating Tie Ends

I am making a dress for my niece, and having difficulty pleating the tie ends or sash. There is nothing on the pattern piece to indicate which way to fold the pleat. I use to make these tie ends all the time in my sleep, but it has been awhile since I have made a child’s dress. The patterns used to have broken and solid lines with arrows to show which way to go. This pattern has 4 solid lines, no broken lines, no arrows. All the instructions say is to fold on the lines, but doesn’t say which way to fold, or whether to fold the right sides together or the wrong sides together. Can anyone tell me how to fold the pleats. Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeanette

I would stitch the solid lines together in pairs for about an inch and the insert this into the side seam. You should end up with two pleats
Thank you for your response. I really appreciate it.

I don't think there really is a "wrong" way to do it. Just how do you want it to look when worn. Try folding the pleats up or down and decide which is more the look you want. I have even gathered the end of ties instead of pleating them!
Happy sewing,
