Need help with zippered boxes

I tried to make the fabric boxes from the January 2003 issue; “When the Gift is the Gift Wrap”.  The construction of these triangular shpaed boxes is interesting as the author instructs you to only use one side of the zipper, fold it in half and  “ease the zipper ends back into the pull”….it was impossible.  I used a Talon zipper.  Is there some trick to achieving this; a specific brand of zipper?  Please help, the boxes look lovely and the author obviously could do it so where did I go wrong?

(I am trying to make these for Christmas so I am hoping someone will answer this soon.)  thank you.

I have not made these, but there was an extensive discussion of them at http://www.sewingworld.com

Some people had the same difficulties, and a number of solutions were posted. The search feature (a tad slow) should get you there if you type in something like "gift boxes."

Thank you for the quick response and assistance.  I haven't seen the site and discussion yet but based on my experience, I'm not surprised there was a "discussion" about them....   :)  Happy Holidays!

Hey, the discussion was right here! Makes sense, huh?
