Need someone to test a pattern

gowngirl | Posted in Patterns on

Hi Everyone,
I have been doing custom design and dressmaking for quite a while (see www.gownsbylaura.com), and recently decided to develop the most popular styles into sewing patterns. The first one has been thoroughly tested and is ready to go (see www.nostalgicpatterns.com). I have the second one ready to be tested- see attached picture. You get the pattern for free (I pay shipping) and all I ask is that you please use the directions (I know some of you don’t need to use directions!) to make up the pattern and give honest feedback and suggestions for improvement or clarification if necessary. The directions do not come with illustrations.

Any takers?

Thanks so much! Laura

I would like more information on this.  I would be willing to try.  I am needing a dress for the spring for a wedding.  This might work for that.

    email me at [email protected]

It could be a spring dress I guess. I shortened the sleeve and made this style for my mother from a cotton print. Laura

Will you be making any of the styles with fuller skirts into patterns soon? There is no way I can wear a sheath, but I love your styles and would definitely want to try them.

Not to worry, many styles will have full skirts. Join the mailing list at http://www.nostalgicpatterns.com/mailinglist.html to find out when new styles are available for purchase. Thanks for your interest! Laura

I think your Pendleton dress is beautiful and I'd love to test your pattern for you. My sewing skills are such that this dress might be a notch up for me but I'm happy to try and give you honest feedback. Please email. [email protected]

Will you eventually have illustrations with the directions?  Some of us are hopeless with written instructions!

It looks like a nice dress, but it's hard to tell the design details with the black fabric; do you have a sketch that we could see?

I'm hoping that eventually my patterns will have illustrations with the directions, but for now, the styles are easy enough that I think most people will be able to sew them. The format that I've used in writing the directions are different from the standard directions, and I've been told that they are pretty easy to follow along without directions. The patterns do come with a technical drawing, so that should help. I've included a technical drawing for this new style with this post. Thanks for asking! Laura

Laura, I replied earlier about testing your pattern via email only and wasn't sure whether that would allow you to reply to me.  Thought I had better try again through a Gatherings post just in case!  If you are still in need of a test seamstress, you can email me at [email protected].  Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks so much for your wonderful sweet comments and interest in testing this pattern for me. I have enough pattern testers for this style at the moment, but not to worry, there will be more patterns coming, and every one must be tested. Anyone interested in being notified when this pattern will come available for purchase, please sign up to be on my mailing list at: http://www.nostalgicpatterns.com/mailinglist.htmlThanks so much, and happy sewing!Laura

How refreshing!  I went to your website and am intrigued.  The sizing seems just right for me, thank you!  The current original pattern is not right for me, but I look forward to seeing what you come up with next.  Best wishes in your business!!!  Mary
