Hello Everyone!
My name is A Walker and after recenly retiring, I have taken up sewing again – with a passion!
However, I REALLY need a new iron and I am wondering if any of you would share your thoughts with me. I’d like to use this iron for both pressing shirts, etc AND pressing my sewing projects.
What brand do you like? Recommend against? etc….
THANKS!

I had a Rowenta iron for about fifteen years and in fact still have it as a standby, but when I was looking for a new Rowenta I did not have a good experience at all, had to return two of them because of leaking problems when set on steam. I finally settled on a digital Velocity, 1500 watt, the price of which was in line with the Rowentas - around $200 Canadian.
This Velocity has several functions which I like very well, and one function I would rather not cope with: it has two steams - one for fabric flat, and one for steaming hanging clothing, drapes, etc. Both work very well except that the iron also has a automatic shut-off and this is a pain, to wait for it to heat up again when sewing. There are four settings from very hot to just warm. The iron is very heavy, something I wanted but others may find it too much to manage. It has a large reservoir and because of the really good steam stream needs filling quite often.
Thanks! I wondered about Rowenta - since I have not used this brand before. I appreciate your feedback and your input on teh Velocity you did purchase.
Comsumer Reports rates a Black and Decker as it's highest rated iron.
Does anyone out there have teh B & D 2030?
A
