Needles breaking

hiptdairy | Posted in Machine Embroidery on

I was wondering why my Bernina Deco 650 keeps breaking needles. I have misplaced my manual. I bought this on e-bay, which I probably never again will buy a machine on e-bay, since I don’t have a dealer to help me. I am using Isacord thread. Lately I’ve broken  several needles and don’t know why. Thanks for any help! Lydia

It could be something maybe wrong with your tension.  Check your upper tension and see if everything looks normal.  Also, check and see if there is anything in the upper threads path.  It could be something is catching on the thread even before it is going into the needle, pulling the thread to tight, and therefore pulling against your needle and causing the breakage.  When was the last time your machine was cleaned.  Also check the bobbin for any lint build up,  but my guess it is in the upper thread path.  Be sure and check which way your thread is suppose to be coming off your spool,  clock wise or counterclock wise,  that can make a difference also.

Thankyou! I will get my machine serviced as soon as possible. I've ordered a new manual for it ( I will probably find the original then). I appreciate the suggestions and will check on all of them. Lydia
