new Burda pattern I can’t find

Josefly | Posted in Patterns on

I found a pattern in the Burda 2006-2007 catalog on the BurdaMode website. It’s not available at the only store in my area that sells Burda Patterns – Joann’s Fabrics – and nobody at the store could tell me when the new catalogs will be available there. Did I read somewhere that Simplicity handles Burda pattern distribution, and must I contact The Simplicity Pattern Company?, or does anybody know what the catalog-cycle is in the US? I’m dying to make the dress and vest in Burda 8000! Any tips on how to get this pattern I would most appreciate.

Have you tried http://www.sewingpatterns.com?  If they don't have it you may want to come back here and let everyone know the specific pattern number(s) - maybe someone will know how to find it that way.

Thank you, JT, but yes, I tried that link, as well as looking at patternreview.com for anybody who'd used the pattern, but it is a new pattern in the Burda fall, or 2006-2007, catalog, and I guess it's just not in the States yet. It's Burda 8000. It can be seen at http://www.BurdaMode.com, click on the catalog.

I'm new to Burda patterns, so not sure of how to get my hands on them if they're not in the fabric stores. Also, can someone tell me, is it possible to buy the Burda Magazine at bookstores, or only through subscription? I'm wondering if this pattern has appeared in one of the magazines...someone has said that they sometimes appear in the magazines before being put in the catalog?

I'm sorry - I didn't realize that 8000 WAS the pattern number, I thought it was the series.

        Hi,

You may try the local Barnes & Noble Bookstore or similar for the magazine.

Also just wanted to let you  know that I just found Burda Mode at my local bookstore.  I had never actually seen the magazine before.  Did everyone know that they GIVE you several patterns IN the magazine?  I didn't.  Just as an FYI - the dress you are looking for is not in the August edition (I'm assuming all editions are the same regardless of what language they are published in).  The magazine does appear to be published each of the 12 months so maybe it will be in September's magazine.  And you can get a copy of it on Amazon (appears to be subscription only) if you can't find it anywhere else.  Good luck!

          Hello --

There was a discussion thread several months ago about Burda Mode magazine, and how to find it. You might look at my message 5029.25 and others in that string.

Yes, the magazine gives you several dozen patterns each month -- you just have to go through the work of tracing & preparing them.

New Burda single pattern 8143 really is new -- I haven't seen anything like it in my 12+ years collection of Burda Mode magazine. So I would plan to buy the single pattern if you like it -- the online preview for Burda Mode magazine September 2006 doesn't have anything like it either.

Thank you for giving me that thread number.  I was really amazed at what I can get in the magazine and didn't realize that the patterns were not necessarily part of their regular line of patterns.  Makes them a little more unique, doesn't it?

            Thank you!

This pattern popped up on the sewingpatternreview website and I sent a note to the site and asked was this pattern in the new catalogue or where could it be found and to-date, I've had no response. The message was sent a week or so ago. My thinking is that I did not get a response as the site's owner most likely does not want me to purchase it outside of sewingpatternreview's site.

Has anyone seen this one, it's Burda 8143 and is listed as a pants suite?

That one actually IS listed on http://www.sewingpatterns.com!

Thanks for directing me to this site. I noted that it must be in the 2006 catalogue that is shown, and more importantly it is less than what it is being sold for on patternreview's site.  Thanks again.

I've had really good luck with their patterns.  It seems something is always on sale - usually from 30% to 50%, too.  I would suggest to Josefly to sign up for e-mail updates from this website.  Sewingpatterns.com will send out an e-mail when they post the new season's patterns for each manufacturer.  I got one today telling me that the new NewLook patterns are now posted (and they are 40% off).

Also, I live outside the US and noticed yesterday that Burda patterns from the new season are already available here.  It is probably just a matter of weeks before they start cropping up at Joann's across the US.  Oddly enough, I can't buy too many patterns here because English is not one of the 8 languages that they come in.  Found that out the hard way!

Hi Josefly!  The Burda pattern you are trying to find is now on sewingpatterns.com and it is currently half off.  If you've never ordered from them before - their shipping is really fast so you should have it in no time.  Happy sewing!

Thank you for the heads-up. I've been on vacation in Albuquerque, so haven't been looking for the pattern, but will try to order it immediately.
