new fiber

just jane | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I have just read of a blend of fibers in a fabric and one of the blends is tactil.

Does anyone know what it is and if you have worked with it how it handles.

Thanks

I read on one of the weavers supply sites that tactil is tree bark.  They are using the same technique they use to process bamboo.  I've also read that bamboo tears easily and is weak when wet.  But didn't they say the same thing about rayon?  I would believe that tactil would have the same characteristics and the weavers use it mixed with a man made fiber.

However, I haven't yet used it in a project so I can't advise on how it handles.

Thanks for the info on tactil. It was in a blend of other fibers.
