New Look patterns

mini | Posted in Patterns on

Has anyone had experience with New Look patterns?  I am just wondering what they are like.  I prefer Kwik Sew as a rule but got these onsale.

Also has anybody purchased the Wild Ginger software?  I am tempted but had a bad exoperience with Dress shop 2 many years ago.  It was so damned complicated  I never got one good pattern from it.

Thanks,

Mini

p.s. Happy Easter from Australia.

I like the New Look patterns very much. Be sure to go by body measurements when choosing your size. My current favorite is 6224,a bias cut dress. It is beautiful in chiffon. I made the tie front version in a black/cream floral print , with matching slip, and the crossover front version in a navy and white sheer polka dot. I have a black rosebud floral chiffon next to do.They run true to size, and I have been happy with their patterns so far.

Thanks for your comments on New Look patterns.  How would you compare them with McCall's for instance?  I usually have to start with a size 6 for chest and choudlers and alter for a size 38 bust.  Lots of work but worth it to me.  If I go by full bust or even high bust  the shoulders and enck of patterns are usually way too big.

Your chiffon creations sound lovely.  It is just coming into winter here now in Australia and I amcurrently making some tops.

      Warm Regards,

The few times I have used McCall's patterns, I have found them to be too big, even going by the body measurements. I haven't had that problem with New Look. I vary between sz 14 and 16and had no trouble with the adjustments. I am really enjoying the sheer dresses. We go dancing a lot and they are my new wardrobe for going out. I brought them on our spring vacation to Puerto Rico and felt right in style there
