New York and back

Thank you to those that advised me where to shop in New York, we had an exciting and exhausting time, but I slipped into the garment district between other engagements to poke around. I did not buy very much, carrying it over 2,000 miles home concentrates the mind, but some of the stuff I saw was a revelation – knitted cashmeres and camel hairs! On the other hand there were an awful lot of really rather cheap and tacky fabrics that I would not waste my time on.

I suppose I knew that so many buttons existed, but never expected to see them all in one place. However I never guessed that so many trimmings, laces and braids could be had. Looking at my little haul, I see that a lot of it was made in France. A shopping trip to Paris next perhaps?

My major purchase was a lovely felty designer coating. Just the thing for New York nights dropping to -10 deg. C.
Oh yes, I’ll be back!

I am off to Paris in a few weeks. Does anyone know of great fabric, notions, trim shops?
