No more posting?

Teaf5 | Posted in Talk With Us on

As a veteran sewer with lots of information to share, I like answering questions on the forum.  However, recently, no options to post have been offered, even after I’ve logged in.  Is this a new feature of the forum?  If so, it probably shouldn’t be called a “forum,” as we cannot participate fully.

    Maybe it takes awhile?

Now, when I click on a message, the option "reply to post" appears, when none did before.  Perhaps there's a time lag between when the message is loaded and one can post to it?

      wonky

I attempted to reply to this thread yesterday, and I got some kind of message about my reply was SPAM!    What happens to me is I click on the post button, then another screen comes up with the blazing red cautionany note that I must go throu the secret word thingy -- or whatever the encrypticed code step is -- even though it wasn't there before -- and isn't there now at the bottom of this page.

I also note the lack of activity.  There have been no posts since I was here yesterday.  I'm really not surprised at much here.  i do not think anyone is minding the store.

        wonky

I attempted to help some one yesterday and encountered the craziness you mentioned. I just gave up and left.  I keep telling myself to quit coming to this site since it's been "improved"because it just depresses me to watch it dying.  I feel so sorry for the occasional person who stops by and asks for help.

My answer re quilt sleeve just disappeared

I recently replied to a question regarding how to make a sleeve for a quilt for a show. I think that the question was from Blingy. I spent some time working out the measuring and sewing sequences and posted the reply.  I checked that it had "arrived"on the site and it had.

Later, as even though I checked the square "Notify me when new comments are posted', which doesn't  ever notify me anymore ,I checked to see if anyone else had replied only to find that my answer had dissappeared.  Has this happened to anyone else?

Disappearing altogether; maybe abandoned? Can't even post a mes

Ahem.  I was trying to say that the forum seems to be disappearing altogether, and tonight, even though the prompt said "comment field required," there was no space or way to enter a comment.

I have a feeling that the forum has been relegated to automated administration, so that Taunton has no idea what is happening/not happening here anymore.  Sad!

            Agree here.

If the comment box doesn't appear I  click "post" and  the comment box appears

Have you noticed that no longer are there ever comments in the "Letters" section of Threads from this forum?   There was a time when  posts from this site were used extensively in that section of the magazine.  The site has not been updated by Taunton since March 12, 2010.  That should tell us something.

And, yes, I feel for the people who come here seeking help and perhaps a safe haven.  Alas, I fear that is all in the past.

I have had this same frustration.  Sometimes I have had to log in several times in order to reply to a question.  I wil try clicking on the Post option when that happens again.

    Futility

I got so disgusted with the "new, improved" posting process last week that I sent a complaint by snail mail--no reply as yet.  I, too, lament that others, particularly beginning sewers, can no longer count on getting the help they need here.  IMHO it would be better just to take Gatherings down altogether.  No posts, no frustrations, no promises, no problem.  Now let's see if this message actually posts.........

      returning and no action

I haven't been here for several months and one computer ago.  And there is little to no new posts.  What has happened?  I hope you get a response from Threads magazine.

      Chris
