I am hoping to go into NYC soon, does anyone know of a place to purchase fabric to make drapes? JoAnn and Calico Corners does not have what I am looking for. I have to coordinate with existing fabrics so online is difficult do to color.
Thanks for your help

Here are two places
Zarin Fabrics, 314 Grant Street, NYC 10002, 212 925 6112
Modern Decor, 319 Grand Street, NY 10002, 212 965 9240It's too late for me to call and see if the stores are continue to be home for business but I'm reasonably sure they are. They have been in the business for years. Moreover, there may still be others along Grand Street and several other streets in this lower east side area, although it isn't like it use to be 35 years ago.Hope this is helpful. Z
thanks
Hey isn't Zarin the family business of one of the NY housewives?
yes it is, it would be fun to shop there. and Mood, the fabric store on project runway too.
This was interesting as I saw Jill Zarin on a talk show last night but I don't remember which one. I wonder if Housewives of New York will be back-or maybe it is since I have cut back on my channels.
City,
They are coming back... but aren't on yet. Bravo is typically part of the basic cable package, so hopefully you're still in the loop!
Bravo seems to be a channel I let go!!! I bundle my phone and internet and cable and by cutting back I cut my bill in half but agreed to a year so theres nothing I can do about it right now. Boo Hoo!!! My son-in-law grew up in NYC and I like to see their lifestyle and the places they go. The fighting I can do without. The truth is I like the ones you're not supposed to like-they seem more real. My house has 23 windows and I don't know how they can stand the blank walls. I would be claustrophobic.
It's not quite as perfect, but Bravo does have clips from many of their hot shows available online and of course there's http://www.hulu.com (which has full episodes) and http://www.youtube.com!
Thank you! I'll try this!
I've never been able to maintain volume on my computer but these sites were ineresting. I've never heard of Hulu. Thanks again.
Yes, the stores are still there on Grand Street and there is another big store -
Joe's Fabric Warehouse
102 Orchard St
and there are higher-end stores uptown on 57 Street.
There was a great article in Threads (I think it was Threads or Sew News) on fabric shopping in NYC. I have some favorite places in the garment district. We are building a house and I've been buying all kinds of home decor fabric. I've been very lucky with my findings (some in L.A., some from Guatemala, and some in Houston where I live.) Luckily I work for Continental Airlines, so I make fabric runs all the time. Let me know if you want that article. Many of the fabrics are not marked in these stores, so you have to ask. I always negotiate. It works every time. If they say something is $5 a yard, I ask if they will take $4. They always do, especially in this economy. My motto is, "It never hurts to ask."
