old singer machine

mommydionne | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Hi

I have an old singer, was grammie’s and it is one of the first singer electric portables, with the wooden cover and weighs a ton.  It is currently living in my mother’s basement but works as far as I know.  Does anyone know much about these machines?

Thanks

Jeanette

Does it have a knee pedal as opposed to a foot pedal? That is the kind I have and I've sewed on it for years and years.

Last spring somebody gave me a 1957 Singer that I had serviced and it works great!  If you go to the Singer web site (sorry I don't remember the address, but it's probably not hard to find on an internet search), and type in your machine's model #, you can order a xerox of the manual.  Mine cost about $15 I believe.  It's been very helpful.
