Hi All
I have a short sleeve black polo shirt in very fine merino wool which is extremely useful in winter – warmth without bulk under a jacket. Does anyone know of an online source where I could buy more?
Many thanks.

Hi,
You might try Emmaonesock.com or GStreetFabrics (not sure of their web site but they have good fabric) or Britex Fabrics (in San Francisco - not cheap but good quality) or StoneMountain and Daughter (in Berkeley) or Waechter's (very good quality). I've never ordered anything on-line but these are the resources that I could think of right away. Anyway, I hope you find what you're looking for.

Thanks very much, Julie. Yes, it does absolutely not pay to use poorer quality fabrics. I'll see what they've got.

Katina,
You're very welcome - I'm glad I could help. Would it be rude to ask for a photo of your finished project? I find it so inspirational to look at other people's work - it motivates me to get going on my unfinished blouses......

Hello Julie
No, not at all! Will be a while though as I will need to get the fabric first. I agree, I love photos; I was actually thinking of asking Fabricmaven if she'd like to post a pic of her wonderful fabric so we could get in on the thrill of the design process.
Thanks again
Katina
Katina,

Katina, if you haven't already found your wool online, you might find some at Hancock Fabrics. I bought some beautiful fine merino wool there in a gorgeous red in December, then went back in February and found they had more in black, navy, and grey. It was 60 inches wide, $12.99 yard. Do you have Hancock near you? They've already moved the wools to the back of the store, in my city, to make room for the linens, etc. but they're still there.
Oh my - red! My favourite colour! And black as well - what more could one ask for? Thanks so much for replying, but I'm in Europe so no Hancock's for me. What will you make with yours?
Katina
Gave the red to my daughter as a Christmas gift. But I'm going back for some navy for trousers. Wish you could get some. I hope you'll recover soon and can get back to sewing.
Thanks so much! Must admit I wasn't prepared for this exhaustion, but have been planning all kinds of projects while taking it easy.
I made a pair of trousers some years back in a Donna Karan wool jersey, a fairly heavy weight; they might well be the most useful part of my winter wardrobe. Now that I think of it, I need to start keeping an eye out for a replacement fabric.
Kind regards
Katina
How did you go on your fabric search? Were you able to find the merino wool?
Regards, CherryPops
Hello!
No, life intervened and I developed Hepatitis A - it really makes you exhausted. Thanks for the info; I'll get on to the search soon.
Katina
Sorry to hear you have been unwell. I've had my share of illness these past few weeks, which has led me to rest, and change diet, etc but at least I can still sew. I need that!
I'll add you to my prayers for good health.
Take care, CherryPops (australia)
