There was a discussion about Ott lights on Sewing World a little while ago. (www.sewingworld.com) I believe it was under the Notions, Fabric, Thread topic, and it would be in the December to mid-March folder. Hope this helps you.
*I have my sewing area in the basement of our home so there is no natural light to sew by. For Xmas my husband gave me one of the Ott lights - the large kind that has a very heavy base or can be clamped to the edge of a table. I LOVE IT !!!!! I still have to have alot of regular incandescant lighting but the Ott light is superb for bending close to my work ( I keep it between my serger and sewing machine) The light is not overly bright but it does not have an artificial glare either. I highly recommend it for any lighting environment. If it works wonders in my basement it will work well anywhere.
