Hi All. Just bought a good black leather jacket that will see a lot of hard use including getting caught in the occasional San Francisco rain and fog. I’d like to keep it in top shape. Can someone recommend a T&T product for cleaning and/or finish-preserving/water-resistance/conditioning on smooth leather? Also the jacket is quite wrinkled in places (from being shipped no doubt), is there a way to work out the wrinkles if they don’t ‘hang out’ on their own? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mink oil rubbed into the leather will condition and begin the waterproofing process. Use saddle soap to clean it when necessary. Wrinkles should hang out. I am not sure of the style of your coat, but a warm iron over a presscloth (for a short time) would get rid of them in most leathers. Oil after pressing, to replace precious moisture that may have been heated out of the leather.

*I use a bar of Ivory soap and water to clean leather coats, then rinse with a damp cloth. I purchase pure lanolin from the heath food store. I pour a little in my hands, rub it between my hands to liquify it. Then I rub it into the coat (or purse/belt/chair, etc.). It keeps the leather from drying out and cracking, makes it very waterproof. I have had excellent luck keeping leather new-looking this way.Aleigha
