2much2sew | Posted in Fitting on

Does anyone know what pattern was used in Threads #216?  Joi Mahon’s article on pages 52-57.

Thank you,
Sherry

Joi Mahon is a licensed McCall Pattern Designer so I would look there.

Hi! We actually used a simplified fitting pattern Joi had derived from a BurdaStyle pattern. The closure was moved to the side seam to simplify fitting. In the article, Joi recommends looking for a pattern with a European crotch curve, like Burda's designs. She also advocates choosing a style with minimal details.
    https://simplicity.com/burda-style/bur7062 has a faced waistline.
    https://simplicity.com/burda-style/bur6681 has a waistband.
For either, you could move the closure to the side seam in your muslin to facilitate fitting.
After you get the fit you are looking for, use your crotch-curve template to adjust any trouser pattern with additional style details.
    Hope that helps!
