Paragon Patterns never delivered!!

acertrifolium | Posted in General Discussion on

In April, I went looking for tennis clothing patterns. I found the website Paragon Patterns. They had exactly what I wanted. I ordered several patterns and paid through Paypal. I never received the patterns. I emailed, I called….no response. I contacted Paypal only to learn that I had waited too long to file a complaint. Has anybody dealt with this website successfully? At the moment, I am waiting for someone from this outfit to pick up a registered letter from the post office but it’s been almost a week. I lost $76!

A true dilemma to be sure.    Especially since your registered letter is still at the Post Office.

If it was CONUS - is there any chance you can find out the state the site operated from?    You could then be in touch with that Better Business Bureau.  This URL should be helpful.

I'm hard pressed to know if it will help for an on-line one.  Maybe another member knows of a resource to report these businesses who fall short.

Sadly, you may be out for the money spent for the patterns.  Any kind of shopping carries a risk and it is costly, discouraging, and exasperating when the results leave one holding-the-bag.

Please keep us informed of how things go for you.

ETA - to add the URL

I am not sure what paypal is, but if you used a credit card you should contact them and let them know you did not receive the merchandise.  I did not receive some patterns I ordered some time ago through another source, but the owner had a record of sending the patterns as well as insurance for any loss so I was reimbursed.  It's hard to believe Paragon would not have something like that too in order to be a viable business.  I would keep bugging them.

I noticed her website (at the bottom of Home page) states it was last updated 11/2006, I wonder if they are still in business?  If you don't receive an acceptable responce from them, I suggest you notify the Distric Attorney Consumer Fraud Unit and the Better Business Bureau as well as your credit card or bank and see if you get satisfaction that way.  Thanks for sharing this information, please let us know what developes.

Oooh! and Ouch! You may be able to look up the "owner of record" for the website on "WhoIs.net": http://www.whois.net/whois/paragonpatterns.com Okay, so I just did that, and find that the domain was registered to "Domains by Proxy, Inc" so, no help there. But, the Paragon site does show a Yahoo! group (Great_Sewing_Newsletter) which lists the six or so newsletters, which included this:

    Copyright © 2003 Susan Wigley |

    P.O. Box 7650 |

    Tacoma, Washington USA 98406-0650 |

    253-759-2846 |

    Fax 253-761-8888 |

mailto:susan@...(this is hidden because I didn't join the group)Don't know if you'd found the owner's name and phone and fax numbers before.Great good luck tracking down your money!KharminPS - How soon were you "supposed to" contact PayPal?

45 days!!!! and I also contacted my credit card company and that was 60 days....so I waited too long.....

You have learned one painful lesson, and that is to wait only a reasonable period of time, or at least know what your window of action is.That said, I'd recommend contacting the office of the attorney general for the state of Washington:http://www.atg.wa.gov/You will be able to get advice there through the "contact us" feature, and you will almost certainly be able to access an online complaint form (we can do that here in California). Surprisingly often, filing a complaint with either the state or the local DA's office will get you some action from the business who has cheated you. In any case, you will be doing future victims a real service by registering a complaint. There is nothing to lose, and actually something to gain--plus you will feel a sense of empowerment on doing something instead of passively absorbing bad treatment.

I took your advice and filed a complaint with the Washington State Office of the Attorney General. It's going to take about 4 weeks to process this but I will keep you all posted. And yes I learned my lesson about waiting.....

Well done. You will not regret it even if you don't hear back from the bozos at PP. You will have given them a "yellow sheet" which will ultimately cause them trouble.

On http://www.patternreview.com I just read of many others who were scammed by Paragon Patterns from as far back as 2005!  It's listed under website reviews if you care to pass this info along to the BBB and anyone else.   Mary

If this is the case, Pay Pal should be notified to remove their business from the site.

yes indeed!  Seems like things aren't what they appeared to be with them either, I'm sure people must have complained to them.

I also never received my patterns and other items ordered from Paragon Patterns. After ordering I called a few weeks after to inquire about where my items were. They stated that as stated in by shipping email statement it would take 6-7 weeks before I received the items. Unbeknownst to me this was past the amount of time paypal allows you to complain about not receiving an item that is paid for. So, Paragon Patterns makes it so they can take your money and run. Interestingly, they responded to my first inquiry, but thereafter I could never reach them!

I urge everyone who ordered from Paragon Patterns and never received their order to file a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office at [email protected] or
      Rob McKenna
      ATTORNEY GENERAL OF WASHINGTON
      Consumer Protection Division
      PO Box 2317 - Tacoma, WA 98401 - (253) 593-2906
The more complaints they get the better they can build a case against them!!!!

How late is too late. That's ridiculous. You should get your money back from Pay-Pal. I would keep writing them.
