Patch Pockets

Crafty_Manx | Posted in Fitting on

I am looking to add jeans-style patch pockets to the back of a pants pattern (I can’t live without pockets!!).  Does anyone have any ideas of where to start in making a pocket that doesn’t make my caboose look bigger than it is?  Between my “I look fat” and my boyfriend’s “you look fine” I’m not getting anywhere!!  Help!!

If I'm remembering correctly, jeans pockets have slanted sides so the top is slightly wider than the top and then they have a pointed bottom.  Also they are placed so that the point is not a lot lower than than widest part of your hips.  I always had trouble getting them high enough when I only had the back to work on.  You might look a pair in the store to see where they should be placed.  But you're right....a pair of pants without pockets is a useless garment.       rjf
