Pattern Making Software

robinmckinney | Posted in General Discussion on

What is the best pattern making software? I want to be able to design an article of clothing (shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, etc), print the pattern off and start sewing.

What would everybody recommend?

I have been watching to see if anyone has an answer for you.  I don't think the software you are looking for exists, at least not to the home sewer, yet.  I would love to have a program that takes the numbers I put in and lets me print a pattern and start sewing.  Of course all will do that, you just can't be sure it will fit.

I have Wild Ginger.  It is a great program, but requires a lot of work to get just the right fitting.  There is a learning curve.  I do now have several basic patterns that I can use, but it took a lot of muslins to get there.

You can download a trial version of Wild Ginger and see what it is like.  The trial version will do everything except print and save.

My only connection with WG is as a customer.
