Performers’ clothing

katina | Posted in General Discussion on

I believe the special construction techniques of a music conductor’s jacket were mentioned here some time ago.  Then we’ve had the recent articles on Cirque, and the opera.  The pianist Mitsuko Uchida wears the most exquisite clothes, and the words of one critic: “I’d love to be able to say Uchida’s clothing choices reflect her music — they don’t, but the flowing unstructured forms, tonal palette and textural contrasts do at least display a consistent aesthetic – tonight in the form of a pale ruched cami and loose slate sik velvet pants” say it all.  I assume she has all her performance outfits custom made.  The loose, flowing sleeves don’t impede her playing – cuffs are tight and there’s no blousing of the fabric over the wrists.  I’d love to know more!

The musician's clothing sounds elegant. I'm going to google her and see what photos I can find. Has anyone else found photos online?
