I was told by an expert that pinking shears cannot be sharpened, but someone on another forum said they can. In any case, pinking shears were never meant to cut out patterns, just to be used as an edging to prevent fraying. I haven't used mine for years.
I've had mine sharpened by the manufacturer. Check out their website.
I've switched to using a rotary cutter with a pinking blade on it. works great. After I sew a seam, I press it flat, then pink the edges with the blade (I put a ruler over the seam so as not to make a goof.) then I press the seam open.
This seems like a great alternative. Can the rotary blade pinking blade be sharpened like a regular rotary blade? Z
I doubt it, I've never had much luck with sharpening a rotary blade anyway.
thanks. Z
