Pre-pleated Poly Problems

kbalinski | Posted in General Sewing Info on

Problem: Skipping stitches (like, all of them)! The top thread also keeps fraying.  I consulted “More Fabric Savvy” by Sandra Betzina for starter settings.

Attempts to fix include….1.) New needle (twice), 2.) Rethreaded (more than twice), 3.) Standard foot and walking foot, 4.) Foot pressure fussed with.

Thread: Gutermann Poly, new spool.

Any ideas?

      Problem Solved!!!

Cathy, you and I were on the same wavelength! The book recommended a Universal, but when a Stretch is doing a much better job! I remembered that I had this same problem with a knit once before, and the point of the needle wasn't getting through the fiber to catch the bobbin thread.

      Thanks anyway, though!

Glad you solved the problem. Funny how a simple thing can make such a huge difference. Trying a different type of needle sometimes works, sometimes you have to try a different size. I found on some fabrics, I had to go down a needle size to get the result I wanted. The smaller needle seemed to slip between the fibers better. Cathy
