presser feet-Viking

novice50 | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I want to add some new feet to the collection that came with my Fressia 425. What are some of the most useful ones and is there anywhere online to purchase. I live a good distance from a dealer. Thanks

Is your machine a Husqvarna Viking? It so, I love the piping foot. It helps make the piping and also helps holding in place to sew on garment.
I will look at their web site and see if you can buy it on line.

Hi...I also have a Husquvarna Viking machine and have had found lots of accessories on ebay...Unfortunately, you can't purchase anything from the "official" Husquvarna  website...I, personally, have been eyeing a bais tape foot...I saw it on "America Sews with Sue Hausman"...It looked really fun...

My 2 favorites are the edge stitching foot & edge joining foot.  If I had to choose one of them, I'd pick the edge stitching foot first.  I live in a large metro area & we have "The Sewing Center" inside JoAnn Etc. stores.  That's where I get my feet.  I know you're far away but I could send you feet if you wanted.  Always want to help out a fellow sewer!

Same here.  I use the edge stitching and edge joining feet all the time.  The zipper foot I use a lot, too.  That's for garment sewing.  For quilting, I rely on the walking foot a lot (and 1/4 for piecing).

It depends a bit on the kind of sewing you like to do what feet are most important to have.

I also use my open toe foot whenever I want to see precisely where the line of stitching is.  I agree with the poster who suggested the edge stitching foot and the joining foot too.  Perhaps you could get all 3 from a source on ebay and save some on shipping.  Good luck.

I just finished a handbag for my daughter's birthday, and used the regular A foot, walking foot, zipper foot and edgestich foot.

What kind of sewing do you like to do? My theory is look for feet that will make easier/improve quality of the sewing processes you most commonly perform, or would like to experiment with.

I suggest that you go to the Viking website where they show each foot under accessories.  They have instructions for each one.  I personally like to say I have a "foot fetish" and have quite alot of feet.

Let us know what your interests are so we can make better suggestions.

I think the edge joining foot, open toe foot, and Spanish hemstitch foot are great.  I also have one for corded tucks that is wonderful.  The candlewicking foot is fun.  More recently, the clear free motion embroidery foot for threadwork is my new favorite.  Depends on my mood and what I am working on at the time.  Mary
