I’ve been hearing about Project Runway on TV recently, but have not been able to catch when the program will be aired, and on what station. I recall so many of you gals discussing this before, but have not seen the program.
Could anyone give me some information, not only when it will be on TV this season, but what exactly is the program about? I sort of assumed that it was about clothing design, but still not quite sure. Also, is it specifically a Canadian program?

Project Runway is a Reality TV show about new and upcoming designers, fighting it out to become the show's top designer. Like Top Model, et al. You can find the episodes on You Tube. Kinda fun to watch as they go through some weird designing challenges and get eliminated, and all the bickering and stuff. There are several versions in different countries. I got hooked. Cathy
Thanks, Cathy. Now I can stop wasting my time trying to find it on TV. When I lived down in the states, I watched something like this but it was on TV, and I don't recall that it was called "Project Runway". Maybe it was "Design Challenge" or something similar.
Project Runway had 5 seasons on Bravo and then was bought out by the LifeTime Channel. You can watch reruns from time to time on Bravo and the DVDs of the season are available through Amazon.com and other places, I guess. If you go to Bravotv.com/projectrunway you can see what it is all about. I really learned a lot from the show and got a big creative boost. I hadn't sewn in years, but now I have gotten back into it with a vengeance, all because of this program!
The American version has come to a grinding halt. It has been announced that even though it's been filmed, the new season will not air at the scheduled date. There is a legal battle going on between the previous network and the new one it is supposed to switch to. Many of my nonsewing friends...male and female...really enjoy it. The contestants are faced with a challenge, (frequently using unorthodox materials,...auto parts????) and have a limited time to complete a garment. I think the broad interest is due to the fact that it is much more of a creative challenge than a sewing contest. Of course, the people who don't sew very well are pretty quickly eliminated.

I checked out the Internet site and got the information I needed and was even able to watch a couple of interviews, but not the real contest. Hopefully, I'll be able to get that on TV sometime this spring, or whenever it starts again.
