Quality Underwear Elastic

robinne | Posted in Fabric Guidance on

I am unable to find high quality elastic for use on underwear in any of my local fabric stores. Nothing I’ve found lasts more than a couple of months, and it’s getting frustrating to spend time making a garment only to have the elastic fail prematurely.

Anyone have a suggestion for brands or even particular stores that sell high quality elastics? I am willing to order from anywhere in the world.

Thanks!

Hello Robinne, I'm sure you've already thought of this, but what about the elastic made for swimwear? It's supposed to withstand chlorine, so may be a bit stronger? I think it's usually made from cotton and real rubber. I'm in Canada, and this is the brand I purchased from Fabricville (I believe they ship to the US): https://fabricville.com/products/chlorine-resistant-braided-elastic-hank-10mm-x-2m?_pos=4&_sid=e4854ac6e&_ss=r

Thanks! Yes, I've considered swimsuit elastic--I'm in New Zealand, so I've been considering ordering swimsuit elastic from Australia (where there are LOTS os swimsuit apparel/haberdashery companies), but have no idea what the quality's like. I'll check whether Fabricville ships to NZ.

I buy from sewsassy.com. That is their website and I have been ordering from them for a few years.
I have never had a problem with their products.

I buy from Sew Sassy too and have been happy with my purchases.

Hi, Robinne. There's a lingerie supplier near you, Nellie Joans. She has elastics and other lingerie supplies. Hope this helps. Lynn
