Question about sewing with fake fur:

Has anyone every used fake fur (quite heavy) on a simple, plain Singer sewing machine? I bought heavier needles, but are there any tips I need to know? Thanks.

I just altered a fake fur duvet cover from a king to queen size for a friend. The darned stuff sure makes a bunch of lint! Be sure to do plenty of cleaning and dusting during and after the job so it doesn't muck up your bobbin case & such.
I did the job on my Bernina 950, but it isn't hard to sew with, I bet you could do it on a regular machine. Definitely use a walking foot if you've got one. I used topstitching thread for both the topstitch and seams to match the weight thread used by the manufacturer, with a regular #100 (size 16) needle (I don't even think anybody makes ballpoints to fit a 950). I had to adjust the top tension a bunch tighter too, to get the seam perfect.
I rarely do anything with synthetics, but it's kinda fun to work with; I'm going to make her some pillows with the leftovers.
Thank you very much......I am trying to sew it today!! Merry Christmas
