Questions re: smocking…trying to learn

Crazy K | Posted in General Discussion on

A friend of mine is learning to smock……she just bought a pleater and has some questions.  Is there anyone out there that would be willing to try to answer her question??  She did her first ‘trial run’ and realized part-way through that her thread is too short……..she’s wondering how to avoid such things?  If there is a way to add??  Any help would be appreciated.  I am dumber than dumb with regard to smocking but perhaps I could put her in touch with anyone having answers for her.

Thanks so much for reading this and TIA for any help that may be forthcoming.

Kay

Slumberbug and Solosmocker might be able to help, perhaps address a post to them?  Hope you find what you need.  http://www.marthapullen.com website also might have good info, or you could send a question to Martha.  Mary

Thanks, Mary.  I just looked and someone on that forum answered her questions......for now.  This is a gal that I met through the forum.  Come to find out, we live just over a mile apart!!!  How weird is that?  We've met, had coffee and are planning a trip to a fabric outlet........and then to meet another forum member!  I'm  still pinching myself..........can hardly believe it!

Hope all is well in your corner of the world.  I've been busy.  Fall is always a busy time, it seems.

Take care and thanks for the info.  I thought of Solo but thought I'd just throw it out to all.

That is too cool!  I'd love to have someone to share coffee and browse the fabric shops with!  I hope you gals have a wonderful time!  Mary
