Quilted Fabric

karisleep | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I am looking for high end and unusual quilted fabric for a project.  Would anyone have someone in mind who would send swatches?

Thank you.

have you looked at the ads in "Threads" several of the advertisers will send swatches to the UK.but I am stumped with custom duties anything over £18.00p we have to pay duty which makes buying from the USA costly.

Have you considered quilting your own fabric? I don't know what quantity you need, but it can be great fun to drop the feed dogs on your machine, and freely stitch around motifs on a printed fabric. The back will look just as interesting as the front, and you can achieve a quilt weight out of light weight fabric. Remember to practice, practice, practice till you have the tension and movement you like.  Also anticipate some shifting and shrinkage of the size of your piece. (If you are making garment pieces, don't cut out the actual pattern pieces until after you have quilted the fabric). Good luck!
