I am going to quilt some silk charmeuse for a jacket. I don’t want it to be a warm jacket. I am quilting it to give it some body. What would you suggest using as the quilt base and are there anysuggestions about an adhesive to prevent it from slipping as I quilt it? After I quilt it I am going to add some metallic embroidery before I cut the fabric for the jacket. Do you have any ideas concerning that aspect. I would appreciate any help.

you can back the charmuse with anything you want. I take it the final garment won't be machine washed, so you don't necessarily have to worry about shrinkage of the 2 different layers. What you need to look at is drape. Do you want to maintain the drape of the charmuse? use 2 layers of it. Do you want to stiffen it a bit and maintain the very lightweight hand? use chiffon or organza. you could also use a lightweight china silk used for linings. Are you going to line the finished garment? If not I might consider doing the metalic trim first so the back layer will hide the bobbin work side.
other fabrics that can be used very well with charmuse is a lightweight baby flannel - maintains a lot of the drape but gives it body and warmth (I know you said you don't need warmth). cotton muslin - these I would pre-wash and tumble dry to get the stiffness out of them.
YOu dont' have to use another silk, It can be anything you want.
