Replacing dress zipper with gromets and ribbon

JudeM | Posted in General Discussion on

Hi there,

My son’s girlfriend needs to make larger, her homecoming dress.  She wants to remove the back zipper and then replace it with gromets and ribbon, corsette-like.  The visual she has is that the back will become an open “V” from the lower back.   The dress is styled like a tube dress.  Meaning it stops right above the bustline.  Sleeveless, shoulderless.

I have never worked with gromets before and am scared to ruin the dress.

Is this a good idea or should we consider something else.

The fabric is silver sequened.
