seam repair on double faced butted seam

I just bought a beautiful coat in Europe, brought it back to the States, and found that the shoulder seam had separated. The cloth is double faced and the coat is reversible – the seams are double faced fleece, butted together and serged. It looks like the seamstress just slid off of the seam line and back again through this section. I don’t have a serger, so I can’t replicate the stitching. If I put a backing on the seam and darned it, the coat would no longer be reversible. Being a shoulder seam it is very visible, and under stress, what would you all do? I *LOVE* the cut and style of this coat.

If the serged stitches are intact and just not attached to the fabric you can invisibly hand tack them back in place and do some invisible hand stitches to further reinforce the seam. Take shallow stitches on each side with matching threads.
How about a three step zig zag to attatch the butted seams? Maybe you could use YLI invisible polyester thread or thread to match the fabric. Then I would also attatch those serged threads to it to disguise the seam area.
Another idea is to call a reliable dry cleaner in your area to see if they have a serger and can do this for you or a dressmaker. For such a small seam, it shouldn't be too expensive. I used to work at a cleaners that did military uniform alterations, whew, now I detest alterations to this day.
