Hello,
I was just looking through some of my previous issues of Threads and came across the “Sew Green” article in issue 138. The article is about green fabrics made of soy, pulp and bamboo, but what really caught my eye was the dress and the jacket featured in the photos on page 60.
Does anyone know if those are from an available pattern? If they are, I’d love to get my hands on them!
Thanks in advance!

Hi, Kess! Welcome to the fold!I just went looking to see what I could find, and discovered that the Threads index is pretty un-friendly, if you don't pick the "right" keywords - I couldn't find any articles called "Sew Green"! {Edit: #138 is still in queue to be indexed, since it's only a couple of months old} But, "Google Custom Search", in the upper right corner of the Threads Index page, is my/your friend! Here's the source list that Sharon Blaire included in the article:
http://www.taunton.com/threads/pages/t00255.asp
and her new web-page: http://www.portlandsewing.com/
which includes patterns and class schedules (She's in Portland Oregon)
Her RTW lines are at http://www.studioskb.com/StudioSKB/Home.html
I don't know which photos you saw, but they may be in the slide shows there.
I agree - her garments do look comfortable and easy to wear!
Have fun here, and don't be a stranger.
Bright Blessings ~

Hi Kess and Welcome!
That was a wonderful article on fabrics, but the garments were all RTW. :( There was a discussion thread about the dress at one point. If you do a search in the Gatherings search, you should be able to find the thread. My computer is acting up and will not do searches right now, it is slower than snail mail. :( Perhaps someone else can help me out here? Cathy
The discussion began with almost verbatim your question. See: 8731.1
Thank you JunkQueen. I hate my computer right now! Cathy
With my computer and me, it's always a love/hate relationship.
This is a borrowed one since the one I was using before belonged to DD3 and it went away. This is an older one and I have not got it figured out yet, and it is slow does not have the programs I need and the programs it does have are not compatible with my files, Urgh! The patches and updates seem to be making things worse not better! I really should not complain, at least I have one! Cathy
Thank you everyone for the help, and the welcome!
I went to the website and found the dress and jacket (both of which are to die for!). Of course, neither is in my size and both are out of the price range of a starving theatre student.
Any possible pattern recommendations? I read through the previous post about this article and didn't see any discussions on possible patterns.
Thanks again - you all are awesome!
That was the problem earlier, we all were looking for pattern possibilities! The consensus was to find a basic pattern that was similar in style that you like and then alter it. Nothing really close seemed to be available then. Best bet is to check the pattern sites my dear. Maybe something closer has come up now. We all were pretty unhappy about it. Good luck. Cathy
