Seperate linings for Bias cut garments

bfoppe | Posted in General Discussion on

I recently contructed a sleeveless bias cut silk organza dress.  Problem is the seperate slip I contructed on the straight grain….when I bend or sit the dress hikes up to reveal the slip!!!  I am presuming I should contruct the slip cut on the bias also correct???  Thanks

    Lining for Bias

    Hi Bfoppe

My daughter has a bias dress that has a stretch lining in skin tone that is a good bit  (maybe 8 inches) shorter in length.

separate linings for bias cut garments

Sure.  If you think about it, it only makes sense:  The (free-floating, not caught in the side seams) lining should have the same 'give' as the fashion fabric.  But a stretch lining should work fine generally.
