I am looking for a serger. Does anyone have any comments before I buy? I am looking at a Bernia or a Brother…any comments. The only serger I have had (White) gave up this week and I want to invest in something that I can really use….I mostly use my serger to make dresses, pants and quilting edges and rolled hems. Thanks for any inputs. Blessings, Marcy

Hi. I'm new and also looking for a serger. I think my price range is lower than yours. I'm a SAHM on a tight budget.
How long did your White last? The two that seem to be in my price range are Simplicity and White.
Would also like to hear if anyone has comments about these.

I would try looking on ebay, I was looking at this serger and someone else swiped it up with buy it now before I decided that this was too good to pass up. I have an old Bernina model which is pretty much that same as this Juki model, they use to make the sergers for Bernina, don't know if they still do. I picked up a Bernina 1530 on ebay and wanted a new serger because mine now looks shabby next to my new Bernina. This serger was brand new and in the box and sold for $370, check it out. I guess I was trying to justify buying another serger for cosmetic reasons. Oh well! Olga

My husband bought me a bernina babylock (bless him!) with the advice of a wonderful seamstress. Its a 4 thread, pretty basic and not all that cheap but I absolutely love it and don't know how I lasted so long without it. With my ranting and raving and showing off finished seams and scarves, my friend got sick of it and we went to a dealer to get her one too! She bought a used one that someone had traded up - the dealer had tuned it up, and guaranteed it would serge. She only paid $199 or so and loves it. An older Bernina, all metal parts, a good deal.
good luck!
