Dear mj1, I have all Bernina's. My oldest is a 801 I think it's about 28 years old I use it for leather & heavy duty sewing. I also have a 180 & 200 I use the 180 most of the time for sewing. (when I'm embroidering at the same time). If I'm not embroidering I'll use the 200 for sewing. I guess if I had to decide on just one machine I would have to pick the 200. Good Luck, there are so many machines out there to choose from.
