Dear Brightstar,
What type of pattern? dress? shirt/top? pants? skirt?
What are her comfort issues? no buttons in back? nor zippers? ease of getting in and out of it? loose fit? wheelchair issues?
Is she smaller than the standard size range in the pattern books?
Take a look at Park Bench Pattern Co (on-line) they have some interesting ideas. http://www.parkbenchpatterns.com
Wish I could be more help, need more info,
Becky
A good place to start would be to look at what she likes wearing now, pieces that she likes and that are comfortable for her. Using those as a guide, you can find similarly styled patterns, and then use the commercial garment to size the pattern pieces. Remember that her pattern size will probably be about two sizes larger than her readymade garment size.
