Sewing Knit Fabric
You do not need any special machine for sewing knits. Some people use a serger, but it is not necessary.
Take a couple scraps of the fabric you will be using and do a few tests.
Use a polyester thread as it has a bit more give than cotton thread.
Try a straight stitch, then a narrow, short zig-zag stitch to see which one will provide the best seam.
Start with a new needle. If there is skipping of the stitches, use a Stretch type needle.
For a faux cover stitch effect, you can use a double or twin needle and a single stitch. Hand walk the first few stitch to be sure the two needles clear the opening in the presser foot as well as the needle plate (plate below the foot where the feed dogs are located).
Remove the twin needle before attempting to make a zig-zag stitch as the needle may hit the foot and break the needle.
Thanks a lot.
