sewing machine

toomuchtrouble | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I want to buy a sewing machine that will be suited to sewing upholstery and outerwear EASILY. I have several sewing machines but they just do not do the job without a real struggle.

Check out and old industrial JC Penney type or the Singer Industrial sewing machine.  The Singer is featured on a home shopping channel and is usually under $300 and a real work horse with a lot of extras.  I have seen them online in auctions for lower prices, but not all of the accessories, feet and table.  I say get the buhdle with all the stuff for around $300.

The cheaper little light weight machines around nowadays won't do the job, but many of the older heavier ones will.  Are you using the correct needle?   The combination of power and the correct needle should do the job.   If you are sewing many layers of heavy upholstery (esp. the kind with a rubberized backing) you may need an industrial machine to power your way through.
