Hi granny dee,
I have just finished making 22 Roman blinds( as we call them here in the UK ) and I found that the following method worked very well for me. My machine is a Bernina 1230 and I used the foot that I use for sewing on buttons with a close zig-zag stitch and the feed dogs dropped. One of the blinds was made of pure silk, 8 feet wide and required 30 rings which all sewed without slipping.
I hope that this will be of some help. Edwina.

Don't ask how I know this can happen, but are your feed dogs disengaged? I tape my rings in place with magic mending tape and it just pulls off after I sew. I just read an entry about using paper bandage tape and I can't wait to try that. God bless you, Galey
Galey,
Thank you so much. You woould think after all the sewing I've done I would know to lower the feed dogs.,duh!!
Edwina,
Thank you for your reply. I just never gave it a thought to drop the feed dogs.

It's always the obvious answers we cannot see by ourselves! I wish this forum had been around when I made a colossal roman shade many years ago; I sewed nearly a hundred rings on it by hand and swore I'd never make another. Thanks for your question and all the answers!
