Sewing settings

junoii | Posted in Teach Yourself To Sew on

I am wondering what setting to use when using two different fabrics. For example If i sew a fleece and cotton together , do I use a stitch, needle, and thread according to the fleece or the cotton ?

When in doubt, test.  Make a sampler from what will be sewn.  Size 12 needle and poly thread would be my choice.  You may also need to lengthen the stitch a bit to accomodate the extra depth the stitch will need.

This chart may help with the choice of needle - http://www.schmetzneedles.com/learning/pdf/schmetz-needle-chart.pdf
